Scary Bats
90g flour + pinch of salt
65g butter + 45g icing sugar
25g of cocoa
1 small free-range egg yolk
5ml of milk + 5ml vanilla
50g of chocolate
dark chocolate sprinkles
black and white fondant icing
Vampire bats are scary creatures but the bats we are making today are also very sweet. That's why we gladly invite them to our Halloween party, then we can bite into them for a change!
How to make the Vampire Bats Chocolate Biscuits
Whisk the butter with the icing sugar creamy.
Add the egg yolk, vanilla and the milk.
Stir all ingredients together until combined.
Sieve flour, cocoa and salt into the mixture.
Mix all ingredients into a coarse dough.
Knead the dough smooth and shiny.
Wrap the dough in cling film.
Allow the dough minimal 15 minutes to rest in the refrigerator then preheat the oven to 180°C
Knead the dough and roll it until 1 cm thick.
Cut out the bat shapes with a cookie cutter.
Or print the shape, cut it out, trace it on plastic.

Cut bats out of dough, trace the plastic shape.
Place the bats on greaseproof paper on a baking tray.
Bake the bats for 10-12 minutes until they are cooked.
Melt the chocolate au bain marie.
Brush some chocolate onto the bat biscuits.
Press chocolate sprinkles on the wet wings.
Stick on eyes, cut teeth of fondant icing.
Wat a delicious creepy bats, they really are to bite in!
