What do you need?
watercolour paper
pencil and ruler
scissors
Stockmar wax crayons
sunflower or olive oil, for rubbing
glue
4 paper clips
a tealight, beeswax or vegan
On a German website we saw how you can fold a beautiful lantern, the Waldorf way. The nice thing is that you make the base yourself and your monster can color it nicely with crayons and then polish! Because if you rub watercolor paper with oil it becomes translucent, which makes these lights so beautiful!
How to make the little lantern
Download, print and cut out the pattern
Trace the pattern on watercolour paper.
Cut the pattern from the watercolour paper.
Score all the points overlapping, then a star appears in the center.
A close up of a point that has been scored.
Now you can fold the sides easily.
But you colour the lantern first.
Then firmly rub out the crayon with oil.
Allow the oil to soak in and dry.
Cut in on all the 5 sides.
Squeeze some glue on the points.
Stick the lantern together like this.
Slide paperclips over the glued parts and allow the glue to dry completely
Special, no beeswax but vegetable candles!
Lit the candle when it starts to get dark.
When the candle is lit the little monsters kove how the lantern looks, and so do we!
