125g Zeeland's flour
75g soft butter
75g caster sugar
½ free range organic egg (room temp.)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon baking powder
fondant icing, various colors
icing sugar, for your workspace
edible felttip pen (edible!)
We bought a nice dragon cookie cutter and we're going to bake cookies with it, for Michaelmas. We have fondant icing in various colours so we make fire dragons, water dragons, earth dragons, and much more. The books put the books out already, the dragon-biscuits will be baked today, just two more nights of waiting and then it's party time!
How to make dragon biscuits
Place baking paper on the baking tray
Mix butter and sugar until creamy.
Mix in egg and vanilla.
Mix until all is well combined.
Sift in the flour.
Add the baking powder.
Fold flour and baking powder into the mixture.
Briefly knead the dough by hand.
Wrap the dough in cling film.
Place at least 1 hour in the fridge.
Dust your workspace with icing sugar.
Knead the dough a moment.
Roll the dough and cut out dragons.
Place the biscuits on the baking tray.
Place the tray +/- 10 minutes in the refrigerator.
Preheat the oven to 175°C
Bake the biscuits for 12 minutes.
Let cool 5 mins on the tray.
Then transfer to a wire rack.
While the Dragob biscuits cool completely you cut out the fondant icing
Dust your workspace with icing sugar.
Knead the icing fondant until it is soft.
Roll the icing fondant thinly and cut out dragons.
Stick the dragongs on the biscuits with a drop of water.
Cut out the eyes with a straw and stick them on.
Decorate the dragons with the edible black felt tip pen.
