Thin wire (flower wire)
Nylon yarn

FIMO varnish (matte)
Modelling fireflies of Fimo clay is a fun craft, especially if you're hoping that the fluorescent clay works in the dark. We'll try anyway.
Download before you start the manufacturer's instructions!
Roll a little ball and an oval from black.
Press them together then roll a white oval.
Make the oval on 1 side pointy, 1 side flat.
Press black and white together.
Stick 3 pieces wire through the body.
Bend two feelers.
Stick them into the firefly head.
Bend 2 wings and stick them on his back. Bend leggs and feelers like they should be.
Bake the flies (read instructions below) and varnish them.
Prick a hole in the lid and thread a nylon wire through.
Baking FIMO
- Bake your Fimo flies including wire for 20 minutes in the oven, at a maximum of 110 degrees Celsius.
- Pay attention to temperature and time, too long or too hot baking of FIMO causes toxic chemical vapors.
Knot one fly to the wire in the lid, glue the other flies in or on the jar. Now just wait until it's dark, we so exited!
Unfortunately in the picture you only see the glowing parts of the flies, in reality it's more beautiful. But it does work.
