Shopping List
50g butter (room temperature)
50g caster sugar
1/3 free range organic egg (S)
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
125 gram (Zeeuwse) flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
various coloures fondant icing
sprinkles
Tomorrow is the start of carnival in the Netherlands and we have found some really fun cookie cutters. With a recipe in hand that we have already made, we bake carnival masks. Tthe recipe takes 2 days, tomorrow everyone can decorate their own mask biscuit. It will be kitchen fun! You find the link for the cookie cutters here
How to make these Carnival biscuits

Day 1 make the dough
The dough is quickly made.
Wrap the dough.
Place the dough 1 hour in the fridge.
Continue cutting out the 2 different masks until the dough is used up.
Place a sheet of baking paper on the baking tray.
Place the baking tray with the cut out biscuits overnight in the refrigerator
Day 2
Place the biscuits on the baking tray.
Place the biscuits in the refrigerator overnight
Day 2: Preheat the oven to 170°C
Bake the biscuits for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown
Meanwhile you cut out the fondant icing
Dust the baking mat with icing sugar.
Roll out the store bought fondant icing thinly.
Cut the carnival masks out of the fondant icing.
Use all the different colours of fondant icing you have.
The biscuits are now ready
Let cool on the baking tray for 5-10 minutes.
Transfer the biscuits to a wire rack.
Stick the icing with some water on the biscuits.
Then the little monsters come to decorate their own mask
The older ones are helping the younger ones!
The Carnival masks turned out beautifully!
The little monsters prefer to keep the masks for a while :))
