We bake our own potato chips

Shopping list
1 kilo potatoes
1 liter sunflower oil
salt to taste

Also very handy
food thermometer
a slotted spoon

When we bake homemade potato chips (chippies) for the little monsters, it's immediately a party. They can't help with this, so we fry them before they come home from school, for safety reasons because we fry the chips in a normal pan on the fire. They are the best, say the little monsters :))

How to make potato chips

Heat the oil to 180°C over medium heat

Peel, wash, dry and grate the potatoes into thin slices.

Carefully slide the chips into the pan.

Fry the chips for 3 - 4 minutes or until light golden brown.

Remove the chips from the pan with a slotted spoon.

Let the chips drain well on kitchen paper.

Fry in small batches, go on until they're used up.

Toss the chips with some salt.

We serve the chippies with a lovely seasonal story
