It is already time again for our last vegetable garden update of the year. The kids had to be patient, but at last they can harvest. All their lugging with watering cans is rewarded. The cucumber went ingloriously down after the heat wave, but the tomatoes held out and amazingly so!
There is an abundance of cherry tomatoes to be picked, especially the Summersun variety (yellow) cherry tomatoes took over the whole tomato patch! There are just a few red tomatoes. The Heirloom tomatoes are doing well and the raspberry bush gives lots of fruit, which we freeze.
The raspberries are still going strong, every day we pick some more.
The yellow tomatoes are sweet and crisp, they go in the Bento's.
The grapes are small but sweet, the birds saved some for us.
Tips!
- The raspberries we freeze every day, when the bush no longer gives we make delicious jam of the raspberries, for winter.
- The tomatoes go to school in the lunch boxes, we make pretty quiches with them and we cut them daily on the salad, very tasty.
- The little grapes are almost too cute to eat, the little monsters are so proud of them. We keep them for a little while ...
We wish you all a yummie autumn!
