We have read the book Ganesha's Sweet Tooth several times to the kids and it is still so much fun! The mini monsters love it! We will use the cover as inspiration to make a decoration for Diwali. We craft a cute pink elephant under an umbrella. It will be so cute!
How to make a Diwali decoration
Start with the umbrella
Snip in the plate tuntil you reach the center.
Brush on a triangle of glue.
Let dry using paper clips.
While the glue dries let's start on Ganesha
Trace the pattern on cardboard.
Cut out the 3 parts.
Cut out a white circle.
Colour a pupil in the eye.
The glue on the umbrella has dried, we pick it up again
Paint the umbrella a fun colour.
Allow the paint to dry.
Stick Ganesha together using the glue stick.
Now for the best part of this craft! We are going to dress and decorate Ganesha :))
Stick the eye on the elephant.
Get the book or look online.
Draw the golden jewelry.
Stick on the skirt and the shawl.
The mini-monsters stick on gems.
Stick the pipe cleaner in the umbrella.
Tie on a long thread with a loop.
Decorate the umbrella with golden accents, sticky gems and pompoms
Stick Ganesha under the umbrella.
Bend a paperclip into a hook and find a good spot for Ganesha.
Happy Divali!
