Shopping list
100g soft, unsalted butter
100g fine sugar
30g cornflour
2 free-range organic eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
300g plain flour
For the icing
1 pasteurized egg white
250g icing sugar
drops of lemon juice
food coloring
Every year the mini-monsters look forward to New Year's Eve! Staying up late, with oliebollen and other tasty snacks ;)) They love fireworks from behind the windows and we light sparklers in the early evening, for and with them. So sweet, those happy faces! Today we bake countdown cookies for them, so they can count down the last seconds from the old year, until the New Year arrives!
How to make Countdown Cookies
Download our PDF and make the biscuit dough
Get the dough handy.
Sprinkle your workspace with flour.
Roll out the dough.
Cut a rectangle of x cm.
Cut the rectangele into strips off cm.
Place the biscuits 30 minutes in the fridge.
Slide the biscuits in the middle of the oven.
Preheat the oven to 200C / 180C hetelucht
Bake the biscuits in 7 - 10 minutes golden brown.
Let the biscuits first cool on the tray, then on a wire rack.
How to make royal icing
Sieve the icing sugar in a bowl.
Stir in the other ingredients.
Divide the icing over two bowls.
Spoon half in a piping bag, set the rest aside.
Pipe an edge of white icing, let it dry.
Fill in the biscuits with white icing.
Divide the set aside icing over 4 bowls.
Stir 4 colours into the icing and spoon it into piping bags
Pipe numbers from 10 up to and including 1 in 4 colours.
Now wait until 10 seconds to 12 and then the count down 10, 9, 8 ...
