Taiwanese author / illustrator Grace Lin has published a beautiful 3-part series of books of which Where the Mountain Meets the Moon is the first part. The books can also be read separately. The two later parts are Starry River of the Sky and When the Sea Turned to Silver.
Synopsis: Minli makes a long adventurous journey where she gets acquainted with all sorts of magical creatures. Actually, it is a fantasy story based loosely on ancient Chinese myths and a childhood dream of Grace.
Our readers, young and older, totally agree, it's a beautiful book! Even though it is not a picture book the illustrations you fing throughout the book are awesome. Our only disappointment: the book is not translated into Dutch :(
