How to make World cup 2014 cupcakes
Start by preheating the oven to 175°C
Place the butter in a bowl and add the sugar and the vanilla sugar. Mix it on medium speed until it is creamy.
Add the eggs one by one and beat it. Add the flour in small portions and beat it. Add the milk and beat one more minute.
The batter should look smooth and airy now. Place paper cases in a cupcake tin and fill them up to 3/4 with batter.
Slide the baking tray in the oven and bake the cupcakes for 20 - 25 minutes. Stick a skewer in the middle to check if they are dry.
Do not open the oven door until the cupcakes are almost ready for they may sag! Let the cupcakes cool in the tin for 5 minutes and then on a wire rack.
The cupcakes are cooled.
Press out orange circles with a glass.
Cut out numbers and letters.
Press them on the cupcake.
Roll out 3 pieces of fondant.
Cut them straight and press them together.
Cut out a red-white-blue heart.
Stick the hearts with a drop water on the cupcakes.
This is how to make the Brazilian flag.
Cut a green fondant rectangle.
A yellow fondant diamond.
Stick out a little blue circle.
Cut a white banner and roll tiny balls.
Finally the most difficult decoration, but we can not leave this one out, the Dutch Lion of course!
Roll a piece black fondant thin.
Cut a heart line on top with a sharp knife.
Then cut the manes, ending in a firm chin.
Stick the lions head with a drop of water on the cupcakes.
Cut out all the small parts like the eyes, maw and eyebrows.
The fondant is already sticky because it's very hot today.
But you can use some water to stick everything on.
Let's hope the brave Dutch Lions show their teeth tonight!
It is so exciting, we can hardly wait!
