Almost Father's Day! We want to treat daddy to heart pizzas. Maybe making pizza dough ourselves is a step too far for us, but we can still make the basic pizza tomato sauce ourselves. We think that's very doable and it is very tasty. Not comparable to sauce from a jar! We top the pizzas with all kinds of goodies, then everyone has something to his / her taste.
How to make the pizza's hearts
but we start with the sauce!
Wash and cut the vegetables.
Put it in the blender.
Add the other ingredients.
Blend into a not too smooth sauce.
Pour the saus in a sterilized jar.
The sauce is done! Now for the pizza's
We make
Pizza Margherita: tomato, mozzarella,basil
Pizza Vedure (vegetarian): tomato, bell pepper, courgette, aubergine, spring onion and mozzarella
Pizza funghi: tomato, mushrooms and mozzarella
Pizza Diavola: spicy salami, tomato and mozzarella
Pizza Hawaii: tomatoes, bacon, pineapple and mozzarella
On top of all pizza's we sprinkle some pecorino romano, for extra flavour
Cut hearts out of pizza dough and prick holes in it.
Generously spread tomato sauce, sprinkle thinly with cheese.
Cover the heart pizza's with various toppings.
Sprinkle the pizza's thickly with mozzarella, thinly with pecorino.
Preheat the oven to 200°C
Bake the small heart pizza's for 15 minutes.
Pizza and Coca-Cola, how American do you want it ;))
The left overs
The leftover dough after cutting out the hearts we process like this
Push leftovers together.
Roll about 1 cm thickness.
Roll the edge inward.
Smother in pizza sauce.
Spread cheese thinly, salami thick.
Put on sliced tomatoes.
Sprinkle thickly with the two cheeses.
Bake the small pizza for 15 - 20 minutes.
Sprinkle the pizza with basil leaves.
Happy Father's Day!
