Shopping list for 6 waffles
100g plain flour
60g cocoa
2 teaspoons baking powder
3 tablespoons fine sugar
pinch of salt
2 free range organic eggs
1 orange, zest plus 10 ml juice
200 ml whole milk
50g butter, melted
50g chocolate in pieces, milk
250ml whipping cream + 2 tablespoons sugar
cocoa, for dusting
slices of orange or mandarin
Today we bake chocolate waffles with orange and whipped cream, quickly ready and super delicious! Great with coffee and tea on the weekend and the mini monsters also love waffles. These are not only made with cocoa but also with pieces of chocolate, so extra tasty!
How to make chocolate waffles with orange and whipped cream
Mix the dry ingredients first
Sift the flour with the cocoa.
Add sugar, baking powder and salt.
Stir to combine and set aside.
Now mix the wet ingredients
Melt the butter
Beat the eggs until frothy.
Juice and zest the orange.
Stir in the milk and melted butter.
Stir in juice and zest.
Now you make the batter
Gradually stir the wet ingredients into the dry.
Chop the chocolate finely.
Add the chocolate to the batter.
Stir it fbriefly together.
Preheat the waffle iron.
Spoon in the batter*.
Bake the waffles in 3-5 minutes.
*Do not over-fill the waffle iron but push the batter into the corners
Allow the waffles to cool slightly, stack them.
Beat the cream and sugar until stiff.
Spoon the whipped cream into a piping bag.
Peel the white skin of the orange and cut it into slices
Pipe a generous rosette on top of each waffle.
Decorate with cocoa powder and orange slices.
