Today we are knitting gnomes and we like this craft a lot. The little gnomes look very cute and they are quickly ready! It is very varied knitting because you often change colours and it only requires a few stitches. You only knit forth and purl back. With the pattern handy it is a piece of cake! The little monsters will be so happy to see these cute gnomes. :)
How to knit a gnome
Start on the bottom, with the feet
Cast on 10 stitches.
Knit 1 needle.
Purl back the next needle.
Knit 5 needles in total and cut off.
The foot is done, now you knit de pants
Knit on using a different colour.
Knit forward and purl back.
Knit 10 needles in total.
Cut off and slide your knitting to the back of the needle.
Cast onto the same needle 10 stitches in the same colour.
Repeat to knit the first foot, knit 5 needles again.
Repeat the pants as well, but do not cut off the thread!
Now you have knitted 2 legs in pants on the feet
Slide the legs together.
Knit using the same thread 2 needles.
Knit on in a third colour, the jacket.
Now you have started on the jacket
Knit 3 needles in the 3d colour.
Knit on to make the face.
Knit 9 needles in a skin colour.
Decrease 10 stitches in needle 10.
Decreasing means knitting 2 stitches together, so when the 10th needle is done 10 stitches remain
This is your knitting after decreasing 10 stitches.
Cut off the wool but leave a long thread hanging on.
Now slide your knitting work to the end of the needle.
How to knit the arms (you can knit them on the same needle)
Cast on 2x 10 stitches on the needle.
Knit 10 needles in total.
Knit 2 needles in the skin tone of the face.
Finally you knit the hat
Cast on 22 stitches to knit the gnomes hat
Knit 4 needles, then knit the first 2 stitches together on each needle.
Knit on until there is only 1 stitch left and then tie it off.
Now you have knitted all the parts of the gnome! In our blog of tomorrow you see how to sew your gnome together, good luck!
