What do you need?
some leftover knitting wool
1 pair double pointed needles size 3
a small circle of felt, in matching color
embroidery thread, pink and black
an embroidery needle
woolen filling
a large darning needle
optional: a strip of felt, to make a scarf
Today we knit cute mini bunnies from leftover wool. A beginner can knit them, you knit and purl and here and there you knit some stitches together, very easy. Because the bunnies are so small, they are ready very quickly. All the mini-monsters want one, so that's very convenient ;) They all choose a different colour, so the leftovers are tidied up nicely and will be well spent!
Here's how you knit a tiny mini-bunny
Download the pattern on PDF
You start to knit the head and body in one
Cast on 13 stitches, leave a 10cm thread attached.
Pearl the first needle and knit the needle back.
When you knit purl-knit or knit-purl you knit stockinette.
Continue like this until you have knitted 18 rows in stockinette stitch.
Cut off the ball, leave 15cm thread on.
Stick the thread through the stitches.
Pull tight and tie off.
Place the felt on the back.
Embroider a face on the bunny.
Stick the wool in the darning needle.
Close the back.
Fill your bunny.
Lace the thread through the bottom.
Pull the thread and tie off.
Tie a thread of wool at 2/3 of the bottom, as a neck (picture 3, above). Pull the thread tight, tie off, stick through your bunny and cut off.
Head and body are done, now knit the ears, cast on two ears, at the sime time
Cast on 2x 5 stitches.
Knit one stitch, pearl one.
Repeat it 5 times.
Ndl 7: knit 1, pearl 3 together. knit 1.
Needle 8: knit 1 stitch, purl 1, knit 1.
Needle 9: knit 1 stitch, knit 2 stitches together.
Pull the thread through the last stitch.
The ears are done, now knit 4 the same paws
TIP!: the paws are knitted as an I-cord, take a minute to watch this very handy youtube-video
Cast on 4 stitches, you only knit stitch, for the entire cord.
Slide the stitches to the end of the needle.
Knit the 4 stitches and slide them back again.
Gently pull the underside of the i-cord.
When you gently pull on the underside of the i-cord, the stitches become more even
Sew with a few stitches the ears onto the head.
Sew the paws on your bunny in the same way.
Tie off with a few stitches on top of each other, stick the thread trough your bunny, pull and cut off.
Your bunny is ready, next week we knit a little dress for her, enjoy your little bunny!
