With a month full of books about boats, we also want to make some boats. We start with a canoe, which hopefully will sail. We recycle a milk carton for this

because this cardton can withstand water. We look for a Lego Duplo doll to man the canoe.

Here is how you make a canoe

Cut the milk carton open and clean it.

Cut the milk carton in loose parts.

Cut out 2 strips, of 20 x 3.5cm length and width.

Stick the strips together with the plain side out.

Let the glue dry well using paper clips on the strips.

Place the canoe on a piece of carton and trace it.

Cut out the bottom of the canoe with a marge.

Spread glue on the top and bottem of the canoe.

Allow to dry a few minutes then press together.

Place a heavy book on the canoe until the glue is dry.

Meanwhile we stick the oars together.

Trim the bottom of the canoe when the glue has fully dried.

Paint the canoe and the oars in a nice colour.

Put a doll in the boat and you're done!

Alas, the canoe sails just fine but the rower keeps falling overboard. Next week we make a raft, let's hope it sails better!
