Dreidel is a very old game played with Hanukkah (The Festival of Lights) by Jewish children. A dreidel is a square top made of wood, plastic or clay. On the four sides of the dreidel are 4 Hebrew letters, each with a different meaning.
How the game starts
The children who participate sit in a circle, the 'money' is divided equally among the players.
Now everyone takes turns spinning the dreidel.
NUN is highest, then GIMMEL, then HEY and SHIN is lowest.
Whoever has the highest letter starts, if there are two equally highest, those two players spin over.
Now everyone puts 1 gelt in the bank.
The first player starts spinning, the others follow in a clockwise direction.
This is NUN, at landing on nun you do nothing.
GIMMEL, landing on gimmel you take the pot.
This is Hey, landing on hey you win half the pot.
Finally SHIN, when you have shin you add 1 gelt to the pot.
TIP! It's helpful when you're playing dreidel for the first time to practice with the spinning top before you start. Try it first, you'll soon get the hang of it. It's just a little trick!

Too bad, put money in the pot!
When the pot is empty, everyone puts in the agreed upon coins.
If you don't have any money left, so you can't pay, then you're out.
The game is over when 1 player is left, he / she wins the pot!
Have fun!
