What do you need?
origami paper or folding sheets, 15x15 cm
little pieces of black, white and pink cardstock
a hole puncher
a glue stick
a black marker
Folding a mouse the Origami way does not seem too difficult, but it may be harder than you thought! Especially if you've just turned 5, then you rather fold a mouse your own way, like we showed you yesterday! We think the tail is most difficult, but if you read the captions and look at the photo's closely you will surely figure it out (like we did). This cute little mouse is definitely worth it and after some practice you soon fold a whole family.
This is how you fold an Origami mouse
Place the sheet with the point up before you.
Fold the sheet diagonal in half, point to point.
Open it, turn, then fold it again, point to point.
Fold it open and now your sheet looks like this.
Now pay attention! We fold all four points to the crease in the middle, the little piece that is left we do not fold!
Point 1 goes from bottom right to bottom left, up to the fold in the middle.
Point 2 goes from left to right bottom, up to the fold in the middle.
Turn the sheet upside down then repeat the last 2 steps.
When the sheet is opened you see this pattern.
Now fold the 2 pont toward each other and the middle will rise.
Fold the middle piece (the ears) to the left and the right.
Now your craft should look like this.
How to fold the ears
Fold 1 ear slanted from outside to inside,
Fold the other ear in the same way.
This is how your mouse looks now.
Keep your craft in the way it is now.
Fold the bottom point until it is halfway to the top point.
Fold it open and turn it upside down.
This is how your mouse looks now.
Fold the bottom point up, from the crease at the bottom.
Fold both bottom sides slanted upward, to the horizontal fold.
Fold the craft now lengthwise, in the middle.
Fold two creases in the longest point for the tail.
Now the tail points downwards so fold it open.
Now fold the tail upwards on the same folds.
Fold the ears in half backward.
Fold the ears open, use the point of the scissors.
Stick on eyes and cheeks then draw a black nose.
Now your mouse is ready!
