225g plain flour
55g corn flour (semolina)
120g butter
85g caster sugar
dash of sea salt
a free range egg
1¼ teaspoon vanilla
55g powdered sugar
drops red food colouring
1¾ teaspoon water
A sweet Valentines surprise! These deliciously crisp biscuits take a bit more effort but the result is impressive.
How to make sweet heart biscuits
Stir flour, semolina and salt until combined.
Mix the butter with 60g sugar until creamy.
Add the egg plus one teaspoon vanilla to the mixture.
Add the flour mixture in parts and mix until combined.
Knead the coarse dough into smooth balls.
Place the balls on a silicone baking mat.
Coat them with the remaining 30g sugar.
Flatten the biscuits with a small glass.
Press in a heart shape cutter.
Place the bicuits on a baking tray.
Place the tray 15 minutes into the fridge.
Preheat the oven to 175°C
Bake the biscuits in 10 minutes golden edged.
Allow the biscuits to cool completely.
Stir powdered sugar with water and vanilla.
Stir the foodcolouring into the glaze.
Carefully spread some glaze on the hearts using a small spoon.
