And then, before you know it, it's already January 1st of the new year. We end a turbulent year with still a terrible war in Ukraine with Russia and (a new one) between Israel and Gaza. We hope that 2024 will be a peaceful year for everyone!

It is still Christmas Break, and primary school will start again on January 8, 2024, in midden Netherlands

In December we read many beautiful picture books about Christmas and winters with snow. But our January book theme is about animals. Of course, there are also the reading days again in January!

This year, The National Reading Days start on January 24 and they last until February 3. The Picture Book of 2024 is Help, a surprise! a funny picture book, by Miriam Bos.

We craft animals to stay with the theme and because we enjoy doing it. It may be cold outside, but you don't have to be bored inside!

We make the tastiest winter snacks, savory & sweet. Also a big favorite of the mini monsters: we bake our own chippies. The monsters help from a safe distance and then enjoy the snack while watching a fun movie on Netflix, all together cozy on the couch.
