And then, before you know it, it is already January 1st of the new year, 2025. We are closing a turbulent year with the terrible war in Ukraine, between Israel and Hamas in Gaza and in too many other countries to mention here. We hope that 2025 will finally be the year of peace, for everyone living on earth!

It is still Christmas vacation, but on January 5th primary school starts again, in the middle of the Netherlands.

In December we've read many beautiful picture books about Christmas and winters with snow. But the theme of our January books is history. We read books about other peoples, such as the Indigenous people of the US (indians), Norsemen (Vikings) and knights in the Middle Ages.

This year the National Reading Days start on January 22nd and they last until February 1st. The Picture Book of 2025 is called Rinus, It is a very cute and fun picture book about little rhino Rinus and his grandfather, made by Ingrid en Dieter Schubert.

We craft Indians, Vikings and a Dragon Boat (among other things) to stay on theme and because we really enjoy crafting them.

We make the tastiest winter snacks, savoury & sweet. Also a big favourite of the mini monsters: we bake Tater Tots, a snack from the USA. The monsters help at a safe distance and then enjoy a snack, all together on the couch.

It may be cold outside, but you won't be bored inside and you can join us again! If you like reading, cooking and baking and/or crafting, you are very welcome!
