The Pakjesavond game

On a free Wednesday afternoon in November, you can have already fun making a Sinterklaas board game together with your little monsters. Our Sinterklaas boardgame was created back in 1980 and hassince then been improved almost every year :))) It is very simple to make, young and old(der) can help, and you enjoy it year after year. Also...it is very easy to play, it's mostly just a lot of fun and laughter!

On Pakjesavond (Presents Evening), we stack the presents that Sinterklaas's helpers have already delivered. Beforehand we also help Sinterklaas by making surprises for everyone, during this sovery busy time for him. In the photos you can see that young and old(er) playing the game are having a lot of fun.

On December 5th we sometimes have an international company at the table. It is fun for our American friends to make their aquaintance with the for them unknown fenomena of 'Pakjesavond'.

On an exciting night like this playing a game can make the atmosfeer more relaxed and it keeps kids and adults entertained. The game is based on the Old Dutch Ganzenbord (Goose Board Game). But always played with a lot of laughter and everyone is having a good time.

How to make the Sinterklaas Board Game

• Roll out the wallpaper to the length of your table and cut it, draw houses with chimneys on the roof on it
• Draw numbered boxes on top of the roofs and numbered ladders on the beginning and end of the houses
• Write above each chimney clearly 'present'
• Write on assignments too, like: sing a Sinterklaas song, skip your turn or start again
• Colour the houses, curtains, plants etc, glue on Sinterklaas & Pieten pictures or draw your own
• To play the game you need two dice, keep them at hand
