Hannah's Night is a picture book by one of our favorite Japanese artists / illustrators Komako Sakai. Her drawings have something soft, it makes them very special, her style is truly unique.
The book has a unique atmosphere. The blue haze over the dark drawings evokes the "alone in the world" feeling of being awake in the middle of the night when everyone else is sleeping. The story ties in perfectly with the experiences of preschoolers.
We are not surprised that this book has been nominated for The Picture Book of the Year 2015 award. We do not yet know whether it won but it does mean that Hannah's Night is in the Top 10 of The Dutch National Reading Days, which is also very honorable. So we highly recommend this lovely book!
