It may seem strange to us, but there are people who do not know Asterix & Obelix. We - and many with us - have known the funny duo for years. Not only the blown-up Romans are super funny, but the self-mockery of the Gauls is also great. The comic by René Goscinny, writer & Albert Uderzo, illustrator, first appeared in a magazine in 1959. Soon after the comic books followed. Both are no longer alive.
But fortunately the characters in comic form still exist, a new team has taken over the comics. Jean-Yves Ferri (writer) and Didier Conrad (illustration) now have 3 stories to their name and with great success. Their first boek, Asterix and the missing scroll, is snazzie's book choice today. The new books are really good, compared to the original comics, with the exception of a few strange name changes for familiar charactars. The typical French humor that is understood and appreciated all over the world has been preserved by them.
Funny thing is that when you are traveling you come across the books of Asterix & Obelix everywhere, we now have the comics - except in Dutch - in Frisian :) French; English; German; Italian; Spanish; Latin; Greek and Norwegian and maybe I'll forget some. So nice, you already understand, the snazzy readers are real fans!
3 brilliant sparkling stars for Asterix and the missing scroll!
