250g caster sugar
250g unsalted butter (room temperature)
4 free range organic eggs (room temp.)
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
250g self-raising flour
4 tablespoons milk
2 tablespoons cocoa
125g Tony’s dark chocolate
How to make a marbled cake with chocolate
Preheat the oven to 175°C and place a wire rack in the middle of the oven.
Grease a cake mold.
Sprinkle it with flour.
Mix butter and sugar until creamy.
Add the eggs one by one.
Mix in the vanilla.
Fold all the flour into the butter mixture.
Quickly fold in the milk.
Preheat the oven to 175°C
Divide the batter into two halves.
Sieve the cocoa in one half.
Stir firmly until combined.
Spoon it alternately into the mold.
Marble the batter using a wooden skewer.
Bake the cake for 45 - 55 minutes.
Allow the cake to cool in the mold.
Melt the chocolate au bain marie.
Swivel the bowl to melt it all.
Spread the chocolate on the cake.
Allow it to set in the fridge.
Serve the cake with some fruit if you like.
Once the cake is cut it looks lovely.
And most importantly, it tastes delicious!
