On St. Patrick's Day, we're painting pebble stones, because we all enjoy this craft. We use 3 types of paint: acrylic paint from a tube, acrylic markers, and gold paint from a little pot. We really like the St. Patrick's Day motifs, but we are not (yet) venturing into the gnomes. The stones we found aren't perfect either, but we do our very best to make them beautiful,
This is how we paint the pebbles
We scrubbed the stones thoroughly and then let them dry well first.
First we paint the pebbles in a basic colour green.
Green, of course, is the colour of St. Patrick's Day.
Use a wooden skewer when the stones want to roll
Gold says also St. Patrick's Day so we paint that too.
Paint the stones with 2-3 layers.
Let the paint dry between each layer.
Now you paint figures on the stones.
St. Patrick's Day motifs are, for example, primarily
- Shamrock, a three-leaf clover but sometimes also a four-leaf, for luck
- The rainbow with or without clouds
- Golden coins and even pots full of gold
- A Leprechaun hat, on which the clover may not be missing
For the shamrock you first paint a V'.
With two arches on top.
3 hearts with a stem at the bottom.
And dots of gold all around.
Make a golden shamrock in the same way.
Trace the shamrock with dark green.
Draw a Leprechaun hat using black.
Colour the hat with green and decorate it.
Draw a witches cauldron using a black marker.
Colour the cauldron with brown paint.
Top the cauldron with golden dots (coins).
Also paint stones with rainbows, clouds and gold.
Allow the paint to dry thoroughly and optionally varnish the stones.
Wishing you a fun St. Patrick's Day!
