At my place is a beautiful book written by Kindergarten teacher Somia Bakali from Antwerp. It's about diversity because as Teacher Somia says: "We have more in common than we differ from each other" and we agree 100% with her.
Because Eid al Fitr starts today, it is extra fun to read this book to our toddlers! In this way our mini-monsters learn that everyone has their own special Holidays and experience them in a different, but no less fun way.
The cheerful illustrations in the book are made by Ann de Bode (with her characteristic funny red noses), a Flemish illustrator with a lot of experience. She translates the differences between the families into images, in a fun way. The colourful atmospheric prints make you happy to open the book to read.
We all want our children to grow up in an inclusive society. So best to start reading about it as young as possible! We would like to recommend the book wholeheartedly! Sorry to tell you the book is not (yet?) translated into English.
