The well-known Golden Books series from long ago has been reissued. The familiar stories from the past are available again and new titles complete the series. One of these new titles is Het Kerstfeest der Dieren by Nienke Denekamp and Raoul Deleo (picture above right).
It is a real Christmas story but Nienke Denekamp wrote it with humor. The mini-monsters think it's very funny, so we read it regularly. This is her second Golden Book already.
But the beautiful illustrations are the main attraction for the mini monsters. They are made by artist Raoul Deleo, who graduated from the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. The illustrations have a retro atmosphere, the sweet drawings have soft colors. But the animals with their big eyes are very contemporary. We all love the cute pictures, adult readers and mini-monsters!
