Happy is the new picture book by Dutch children's books illustrator Mies van Hout. Before Happy she illustrated books with nursery rhymes, nice, but there are so many nice books already. But then she created Happy, a book of few words but with a serie funny crayon drawings of fish, which show a series of emotions. Like happy, merry, proud and the last one? Can you guess it? Exactly! When Happy was published in 2011, we immediately loved it!
Mies van Hout apparently found her niche with this drawing style, because the book was almost immediately translated into several languages and it also immediately became an international success. Now we also see it in the Picture Books Top 10 of the National Reading Days 2013, which start today. Nominated for Picturebook of the Year. A good reason to take it from the bookshelf again!
