Holidays and Festivals by Nancy Dickmann is a series of books for the little ones, this week we are reading the one about the Chinese New Year. Celebrations from all over the world are discussed in a simple way in her books, with colorful photos as an illustration.
Our little ones like the book al lot but for us there is also a minus. In our opinion is the text too stereotypical and it could have been more playful for children.it . The book is from 2011 already that could be the reason.
Celebrations like Hanukkah, Sugar Festival are also getting attention in schools in Rotterdam. Very good because there are children from many different cultures in the classroom and that way the kids get to know each other's celebrations. All kids love a party!
At the back of the book you find brief information for parents and teachers. To explain more through small conversations, before and after reading. Difficult words are printed in bold letters and they are explained at the back of the book.
2 bright stars for Chinese New Year, from our little monsters and their readers!
