The Queens handbag
Winnie-the-Pooh meets the Queen
The Queens orang-utan
Peppa goes to London
The Royal Rabbits of London
Earlier on on snazzie we discussed two books which featured the British Queen Elizabeth ll: The Royal Rabbits of London and The Queens present. Now that the queen is 92 years old and the longest-living and longest-reigning Queen of the United Kingdom and the commonwealth - and since 2015 also the longest-living and longest-reigning monarch worldwide - she enjoys unprecedented popularity in the United Kingdom and far beyond. Which also shows in the popularity and appreciation for the Netflix series The Crown.
Besides the Queen her three adorable great-grandchildren - by William & Kate - have inspired a lot of British authors and illustrators. Therefore the number of (children's) books is still growing. Today we take a look at some of these books, although none have been translated into the Dutch language. Just because they are terribly funny and definitively not made by the worst writers/illustrators.
Peppa goes to London is by the creators of Peppa Pig, Neville Astley & Mark Baker. ISBN 9780241294567; large format paperback with glitters; € 9.23 but also in ebook.
When Peppa and her classmates under the guidance of Miss Gazelle make a day trip to London, the queen gives them a tour of the beautiful city. You can imagine that there's a lot to see! After the tour, another surprise, Peppa and her classmates are going to jump in the puddles at Trafalgar Square with the Queen. The Queen loves it too and (how Lucky!) she happened to be wearing her wellies!
Winnie the Pooh meets the Queen by Jane Riordan and Mark Burgess; ISBN 9781405286817; small size hardcover; € 8.45.
Christopher Robin, Winnie, Eeyore and Piglet go to London to deliver a selfmade special Birthday hum to Her Majesty, especially for her 90th birthday. It is a very special day, for the animals but especially for the Queen!
The Queens Orang-Utan by David Walliams en Tony Ross. ISBN 9780008135133; large format hardcover, in slipcase + CD; £ 14.99. This book is a special edition for Comic Relief, David Walliams and HarperCollins publishers donate all of their profits from this book to the charity.
The queen is bored horribly after so many years of being queen but the arrival of a new butler changes everything! On the CD you will hear Miranda Hart, Rob Brydon and David Walliams himself.
The Queens Hat, The Queens handbag en The Queens present are (so far) three parts from the Queen series by Steve Antony. The first two: ISBN 9780545835565 and 9781338032432; large format hardcover, in dustjacket; € 14.99 & € 15.49, both also available as ebook.
In The Queens Hat the queen goes after her hat which the wind blew away. Together with the complete Royal Guard she follows the hat through London.
In The Queens handbag she follows her stolen bag through the UK with the British police on her heels, as back up.
All these books are cleverly written and really funny, the illustrations are each in their own style brilliant and the books are beautifully executed. We can not say anything other than that the British excel in children's books, but that is not news.
All the books deserve 3 radiant shining stars because they are perfect children's books, no downside to be found (sadly they are not translated into Dutch)!
