We read aloud to the little monsters from De drie bruiloftsgaven (The Three Wedding Gifts), stories for Autumn. An old book (1987) that is still being reprinted, so it ia still appealing to children today. Not surprising, as you are reading a collection of stories—with a shared theme—from all over the world. The stories are suitable for children aged 6 to 12 years old, and the age range is conveniently indicated alongside the stories.
The stories are divided in four parts, The first part contains exciting stories about St. Michael, defeating the dragon through courage and determination. Part two is called In the footsteps of Michael, part three of the collection is named Autumn; from September to November, about the changes in nature in Autumn. In part four you read about Saint Martin and Saint Nicholas. The monsters just love these stories!
This second collection of stories by author Ineke Verschuren follows Een ster over de grens (A star across the border). A collection of stories about Advent, Christmas, and Epiphany. We would love to read this aloud too, because the little monsters love these beautiful stories and we love tis book as well. (Sadly only available in the Dutch language). Finally, we would like to briefly mention the stunning black and white illustrations by Ronald Heuninck; they are truly beautiful!
