Our little monsters love ninjas. These Japanese spies fought for the good and against all evil in the world. They also wore cool clothes and were masterful swordsmen. How fun is it when you need to practice reading (I hate reading!) and you find a great ninja book in the library? I'll tell you what it is, it's awesome!
The book is called "The Great Ninja Test" and it's written by German children's book author Henriëtte Wich.. It's a mysterious and exciting story about a boy, Toru, who sadly fails the ninja test, which makes him lose his courage. But when something bad happens in his village, he comes to the rescue. Will Toru be alright after all?
The illustrations in this book perfectly complement the story. They're mysterious and exciting, yet beautifully clean and very cool. They were created by the german iilustrators Kaja Reinki and Ron Lipkowsk and you can just tell from their artwork that they are comics and fantasy artists. So cool!
At home, we 're getting started right away, the little monsters take turns reading aloud and we're listening. And...it's going really well already! What a fantastic book from Kluitman's I (Heart) Reading series, the young monsters are happy that Kluitman had the book translated into Dutch!
3+ sparkling stars for De grote ninja proef (The Great Ninja Test), from our young out-loud readers and their big listeners!
