Not every year we are so charmed by the Picture Books Top 10 of the National Reading Days, but usually we find 1 or 2 very nice picture books for us. In 2016 we can hardly choose, so there are 4 of them on snazzie this year! The Picture Book of the Year 2016 not included, which we got in mini edition! The picture book of today is another favorite here!

The day the crayons quit by Drew Daywalt is such an original and funny story, it is almost impossible that you will not like it, a lot. The boy who owns the crayons receives a pile of letters from them. They do not feel like colouring anymore, his crayons. They go on strike! Not only fun for the appropriate age group, also great fun for adults who read to children!

The book is even more brilliant because of the collaboration with Irish artist/illustrator Oliver Jeffers. His illustrations give the book it's fresh, contemporary look with his simple refined style. The colours he uses and the amazing facial expressions of the crayons tell a story in itself!

You probably get it already ... three radiant stars for The Day the crayons quit, from everyone here!
