What do you need?
cocktail sticks with flags
scissors
craft glue
wooden beads, red and blue
elastic beading string
The little monsters love stringing beads. We make all kinds of necklaces, bracelets, and earrings with them. Fourth of July hadn't been on the agenda yet, so we're making up for that today. We're also teaching the little monsters something new: making their own beads, out of paper. We use flag cocktail sticks for that, with the American flag (of course)!
Here's how to make a bracelet for the Fourth
Cut the flags from the sticks.
Fold a little strip uowards.
Roll up the little flags.
Or roll them loosely around a stick.
Glue the end in place.
Glue them all first and then start pressing on.
Let the glue dry completely.
When de glue has dried properly you can start stringing
Tie a loose knot in the string
The monsters first string 3 beads,
These beads are to long, cut some off.
Measure the bracelet on your wrist.
Tie a firm knot, push it into a flag bead.
Your bracelet is ready.
The monsters would like to string a necklace too.
Tie a firm knot at the end.
De Fourth of July necklace is now ready too!
