De Ruimtereizen

Today we're reading an exciting and funny book about space travel with the monsters: The Space Travels of the Billy Extra Plank Gas. The debut of Dutch author Yorick Goldewijk. The wonderful, detailed black and white illustrations are made by - also Dutch - illustrator Kees de Boer. What a strange name for a book, we say, but the monsters say: you have to read it yourself, and they are laughing so much (?) They already read part 1 at school. 

It's a nice, thick book because it's actually two books in one cover. The monsters are very curious about part 2, they want to  start reading aloud right away. We're very happy about that, but we're definitely reading part 1 first; we really want to know where all the fun comes from!

While listening, we understood perfectly why the monsters loved this book; it's incredibly well-written. The adventure immediately takes an unexpected turn, quickly going from funny to hilarious, and then it becomes very suspenseful! Can Dexter save Earth? (Probably, because there's already a book 2).

By now, we know the joke about the strange name. We won't tell you, and you probably have not figured it out yourself, just like us (the adultreaders). But it's surprising and also brilliant; you wouldn't make that up, that funny! Have fun reading the Billy Extra Plank Gas books. (Sadly not in English!)
