On Earth Day we read I Ate Sunshine for Breakfast. a fantastic interactive picturebook and great read by British author Michael Holland. He is now besides an author an Expert Freelance Nature Teacher and before that he worked for 17 years as Head of Educationature conservationn at Chelsea Physic Garden, in London. So about nature he knows almost everything! In his book you find lots of crafts, experiments and so much information about nature conservation. Very important, especially for children!
Then he is also an enthusiastic nature photographer, gardener for wild garden animals such as moles, mice, hedgehogs, birds, butterflies and all other insects and he is an all-round compost nerd! Be sure to read about what he does on his website, it is very worthwhile. We learned a lot from it, including some very funny facts!
The fantastic, colourful graphic illustrations by the Italian illustrator Philip Giordano - a globetrotter who now lives and works in Tokyo - fit this book perfectly. They are very attractive pictures for children, there is a lot to see!
