Elfendeurtje home

Fairy doors, our smallest mini-monsters love them, time for us to make a few. We start with a basic autumn door, sawn from wood from scratch :) In November we decorate a purchased door, we paint it in a nice color and decorate it with all kinds of things. In December we make a Christmas door, if no Elves come to live with us by then, we don't know what will convince them ...

Here is how we made the Elf door

Saw the plywood to size.

Saw 5 pieces of 15cm from the 2cm slat.

Sand the plywood neatly smooth.

Sand the slats smooth as well.

Stick the slats on the plywood.

Put on glue clamps, let it dry well.

Saw 3 pieces miter from the 2cm slat.

Saw 1 piece of 10 cm mitered on both sides, saw 2 pieces of 15 cm mitered on 1 side so that it fits around the door

Saw 2 straight pieces of 6cm each.

Mark a piece, mitered, so it fits in between.

Stick the 3 pieces on the door, as shown in the picture.

Put the glue clamps on the door again.

Place a piece of plywood on the door so that the glue clamps can not damage it

Remove the glue clamps when the door has dried well.

Mark a slat and saw a small stoop to go under the door.

Spread some glue on the bottom of the door and on the stoop.

Allow the glue to dry really well again.

Paint the door in a pretty colour and allow the paint to dry.

Finish the door with a doorknob, letterbox and leaves for example.

Find a nice spot for your Elf Door and now let's wait and see if an elf wants to come and live with us ...
