2 snap fasteners
The mini-monsters think it's time for Sabine to get a new party dress, for King's Day. We still have a piece of fabric from her previous dress, so we only have to buy a piece of soft orange tulle. The fabric we have left turns out to be a disaster! I'm at best a bearly minimal experienced seamstress and this fabric rolls, slides and stretches, which makes sewing terribly difficult. Let's just say: the seams are not all perfectly straight! ;))
How to make a party dress for a bear
You have to measure and fit it for size, because not all bears are the same
Fold a rectangular piece of fabric in half.
Measure on the bear and cut it to size.
Fold the fabric open and pin the two seams.
Stitch the seams by hand or on the machine.
Cut off another strip of the fabric, 1.5 time the length of the first strip
Pin a seam on the underside.
Stitch the seam.
Not as wavy as this one :))
Lace the other side of the stip strip by hand
Pin the laced strip of fabric on the first one.
Actually you will sew it between the first strip of fabric.
Sew the pinned pieces of fabric neatly together.
Flip the top side (the body) back over the underside (the skirt), under here you see the meaning, front and back
Pin the body just over the skirt.
Sew the body neatly together with the skirt.
Close the skirt on the back.
Zigzag the seam of the skirt neatly, after sewing it closed
Sew by hand two snaps on the back of the body.
Finally sew two shoulder straps on the body.
We tie a small strip of fabric on bear's head and tomorrow we sew a top skirt!
