Today we're trying to make a Labubu monster as a Sinterklaas surprise for a big fan. We'll have to wait and see if it works out well, but we'll do our best to make it fun and cute. We've already drawn a simple pattern and added it as a PDF, to make the job a bit easier for you.
You can sew the Labubu by hand (if so, we'd make it a bit smaller though. otherwise it's a lot of work!) and sew it yourself. Which will be nicest. But we are a little late online but you can also ask your mum nicely to sew the monster on the sewing machine. That way, there's still plenty left for you to do, before Labubu is finished.
How to make a Labubu
Pin the pattern onto the fleece.
Cut out the fabric.
Pin the pattern on again.
Cut out the body from fabric again.
Now you have the front and back of the Labubu, place the 2 parts on top of each other with the fluffy side facing
Pin the front and back together.
Leave the head open on top in the middle.
Leave arms and leggs open at the ends.
Sew the head on both sides, the middle stays open, for stuffing.
We leave the arms and legs open on all the ends, to sew felt hands and feet in between later on and it also makes the stuffing easier
Pin on the ears and tail pattern.
Cut out the front and back of the ear.
Pin the 2 sides of ears and tail together.
- Do the same with the tail but do mind! The tail has spikes which you pin in between
- Make sure you keep the fluffy side of the tail parts on the outside!
- Once sewn you turn the ears inside out but NOT the tail
Sew the 2 sides of the ears together., sew the tail later.
Now you have the fleece parts complete.
Turn the body and both ears inside out.
Stuff the ears and tail with not too much stuffing.
Stuff the body but leave the arms and legs open.
Lace a thread as the neck, pull tight and tie off.
Sew the head closed, with the ears in between.
Most of the work is done, now we will make the hands, feet and a cute face for Labubu, of woolen felt
Pin the hands and feet neatly onto the wool felt.
Cut the hands and feet out of the felt.
Pin the hands and feet in between the arms and legs.
Sew beteen arms and legs and close all at the same time.
- Google Labubu and take a good look online to see what Labubu's face looks like
- The pattern for the face, eyes and pupils are on the pattern, inside of the ears too
- First take a look on how to place the various parts before you sew or glue them on!
Cut out all individual parts of the face from felt, glue them onto Labubu.
Clamp your pretty wrapped present on the back of Labubu using an elastic band. Is Labubu bringing the receiver a present or is he running off with it? :)))
Happy Saint Nicholas celebration, we're wishing you lots of fun!
