We are starting extra early this year with our Mother's Day gift! The small jewelry box - that we want to make from air-drying clay - will definitely need at least a week to dry properly. After that we want to paint the box in cute colors, and then you will have made a beautiful gift. Your Mum will definitely be happy with your surprise!
How to make a flower box
Start with the bottom
Knead the clay smoothly.
Roll it out evenly between slats.
Cut a circle using a glas.
Smoothen the edge.
Now you make the border so roll the clay into an oblong shape
Cut the clay neatly and smoothen the edge
Gently press the clay around the bottom.
Gently smoothen the edges.
How to make the lid
Cut a little bigger circle out of the clay.
Try if the size is fitting neatly on top of the box.
Roll balls between your hands, shape one side pointy.
Press the flower petals lightly on the lid.
Roll a small ball of clay and flatten it.
Allow the clay to dry thoroughly for 1 week.
Sand the flower, until smooth, using a cardboard nail file.
Once the week of drying is over you choose pretty colours of paint
Paint all the parts of the box and let the paint dry well.
Stick the flower on top of the lid and let the glue dry well.
Happy mother's Day!
