What do you need?

Red, white, and blue craft cardboard
A pencil
Scissors
Glue stick
You also need:
a large plate
a slightly smaller plate
hole puncher
a piece of cord or string

For the Fourth of July, we are making a star wreath in the colours of the American flag. On July 4th (a long time ago), America became independent from the United Kingdom, and this is still celebrated every year in the United States. American children make beautiful decorations in the colours of the flag, and today we are joining in with celebrations around the world.

Here is how to make a Fourth of July star wreath

Trace the largest plate with pencil on cardboard.

Trace the smaller plate in the center of the large one.

Cut out the largest plate neatly.

Cut a cross in the center of the smallest plate.

Cut out the 4 parts using scissors.

Now you have a large ring.

Trace the stars from the pattern on the parts.

Cut out 6 large stars - 3x2.

Cut out 12 small stars, 3x4.

Arrange the stars first.

Stick the stars on as planned.

When all the stars are glued on let the glue dry.

Punch 2 holes in the wreath.

String the cord through and tie a knot.

Red, white and blue are also the colours of the Netherlands.

May fifth, our Liberation Day, came to be with the help of the USA.

So you can hang the wreath on May the 5th as well, American Stars together with the 3 colours of the Dutch Flag!

Happy 4th of July to all!
