A bag charm for Earth Day?

Bear loves it!

What do you need?
a sheet of paper and a pencil
a circle shape, 8 cm
scissors and a hole puncher
wool felt, light blue and light green
pins
matching embroidery thread
embroidery needle
small pieces of wool felt. white, black, pink
3 drops of (textile) glue
some sheep's wool stuffing
a piece of ribbon

We are making a small wool felt globe to hang on your bag. It is a fun craft project; we cut and embroider, sew and stuff. It will be a cute globe, because we are giving our earth a sweet little face. Bear thinks it is so beautiful; the little monsters let her have it. We hang the earth on her little basket and she is very happy with it!

Here's how you make an Earth Day bag charm

Trace 2 equal circles on the paper.

Neatly cut out both circles.

Pin both circles onto blue wool felt.

Cut out the felt circles too.

Cut out little pieces of green felt (land).

Pin onto a circle, tie a knot in your thread.

Sew with tiny stitches onto a blue felt circle.

Once all the green land pieces are neatly sewn onto Earth, you tie off the thread securely

How to make a little face

Punch out the eyes and cheeks.

Cut out a tiny heart.

Sew the eyes onto the Earth.

Embroider a mouth with the same thread.

How to sew the bag charm together

Sew a ribbon between the back and front of the earth

Pin the front of earth onto the back.

Sew around with the blanket stitch.

Leave an opening for stuffing.

Now sew the stuffing opening neatly closed too

Stick the cheeks and heart on earth with a tiny drop of glue.

Bear is very happy with the pretty globe on her basket!

Wishing you all a very Happy Earth Day!
