Shopping list for 2
1 slice white sandwich bread
3 slices whole wheat sandwich bread
some plain cream cheese
2 slices of ham
2 slices of Gouda young cheese
a knob butter
a piece of cucumber
In the last days of the school vacation we're making a very special ham/cheese sandwich for the mini monsters. Not an ordinary sandwich of course! A winter wonderland sandwich!! The recipe comes from a fun website that we came across. So don't think that we came up with this ourselves, but we would like to pass it on to you.
How to make a Winter Wonderland Sandwich
Cut the white slice in a large zig-zag or serrated, if you wish.
Place half a white slice on a brown and slice the brown.
And look, now the sandwiches fit perfectly together.
Spread cream cheese on the two remaining slices of bread.
Place a slice of ham on the cream cheese.
Place a slice of cheese on top of the ham.
Melt the butter.
Preheat the oven to 175°C and place baking paper on a baking tray
Top with the cut sandwiches and brush both with melted butter.
Bake the sandwiches golden and cooked in 15 minutes.
Meanwhile cut little trees out of the cucumber.
Use a straw and wooden skewer to cut cheese snowflakes.
Cut the sandwiches in triangles and put hem on a plate.
Scatter the snowflakes around and place the trees.
It was a bit more work than a regular sandwich, but the mini monsters love it and that was exactly what we were going for :))
