By now we have made a lot of funny insects, especially from egg cartons, but what do we do with them? They are now in the mini-monsters rooms on the various windowsills. But we like to use them in a fun and useful way. Today we make the butterfly and the worm. We don't want to make 26 insects, although we could easily because there are countless of them! But sticking the nicest ones on a card with letter and word, yes, we like that idea a lot.
How to make a butterfly
We measure all round objects, to find 6 and 8 cm circles.
Find some fun coloured sheets and get your pencil.
Trace 2 circles on the back of the coloured sheets.
Cut out both the circles neatly.
Fold the circles in half.
Fold the half cicles in four.
Place the small circle on the large.
Join together using a stapler.
Put the staple in the crease.
Unfold the 4 parts.
Cut off a thin strip of cardstock.
Fold the strip in half.
Roll the ends around the skewer.
Stick the feelers on the butterfly.
Allow the glue to dry completely.
You can stick the butterflies on a card.
How to make an Earthworm
Tie embroidery yarn around the cord.
Keep wrapping the yarn around the cord and glue it.
Until the worm is completely covered, then stick on the end.
Stick two eyes on the head of the worm.
Allow the glue dry completely.
