We read a veryfunny picture book from The National Reading Days Top 10: Feestmaal voor de koning (Feast for the King) by Marlies Verhelst. The story is very funny, but the illustrations are just as much fun for us, we are already fans of the brilliant artwork of Linde Linde Faas. The little monsters can't get enough of the funny animals. We read the book very often to them.
It's King Lion's birthday and all the animals are preparing something tasty for his feast. Tarantula, the cook, makes a beautiful cake for the king. But when he walks away, the best part of the cake is gone. Tarantula had placed an extra tender piece of beef on top, especially for the king. Tarantula is mad! He checks on all the animals because who stole the beef for the king?
