Martinmas isn't a big celebration in Rotterdam, but for our little monsters at the (Waldorf) primary school, it's truly celebrated. They learn to sing the old songs. The youngest children have a procession and go singing to (selected) houses in the dark, and they get candy there.
Over the years, we've crafted and put many lanterns online at snazzie. We made them in all shapes and sizes and for all ages. So today we're making something completely different: a little goose. Not to eat, of course (roasted goose is associated with St. Martin's Day), but we're sewing the geese ourselves.
Here's how you can also make a sweet little Martinmas goose
Print our pattern and cut out all the parts
Pin the pattern parts on the felt.
Cut out all four parts.
Pin and cut out the parts again
Pin the little goose together.
Sew the goose all around with running stitches.
Stuff the goose with wool through the bottom, using a stick.
Sew the underside closed and sew the feet on at the same time.
Sew the wings on both sides.
Sew the beaks on both sides.
Embroider eyes on both sides.
Sew 3-4 stitches against each other.
Tie a ribbon around the goose's neck.
Your little goose is ready now! Let's make some more ;)))
Wishing you fun on St Martin's Day!
