A snowman is easy to knit from 3 rectangular pieces of knitting. It can be finished completely in just one hour! We knit the first needle and pearl all the way back. Or you can knit on both sides.
Here is how to begin
Cast on 16 stitches.
Knit in needle stitch, back in purl.
Then you get the little V's.
Tie off by an 8 cm lenght.
Thread the wool trough the topside.
Pull the wool tight.
Use the remaining thread to close the knitting.
Leave the bottom open and tie off the thread.
Turn the knitting inside out, let the bottom thread hang out.
Use cotton wool or wool to fill.
Press the filling firmly into your knitting.
Close the knitting with the thread, same as on the topside.
Tie off and cut the thread.
Tie of the head with the cut off thread.
Head and body are finished now.
Push a black thread in the head.
Embroider eyes, mouth and buttons.
all with the one thread and tie off.
Use orange for a little nose.
What's missing are his arms...
Cast on 2x 8 stiches on the same needle with 2 balls of wool.
Knit like you did the body: knit stich and purl.
Cast of after 3 needles to and fro.
Pull one thread trough the top end.
Tie off and fold the bottom side in.
Don't cut the woolen thread from the arms.
Use it to sew the arms on the snowman.
Your snowman is finishisd already!
Later this week we knit some snowman accessories like hats and scarfs, then you can dress him/her up if you like.
