In our September gnome month at snazzie, Griswald the Gnome by Daniela Dresscher simply cannot be left out! Today we are reading aloud from Gijsbert en de Klaterbeek. (Griswald and the Babbling Brook). This third book in the series was published in 2023 already. (Sadly only the first volume was translated into the English language).
But even though the monsters are older now than when part 1 came out, they still enjoy the stories about Griswald very much. A little gnome who lives in the rain barrel in a human garden is just too funny!

Even though Griswald is very cute and funny, he also experiences real exciting adventures. He saves a baby duckling from a fast-flowing brook, risking his own life in the process. Then they meet a grass snake, which slyly snatches the duckling. A dangerous adventure with the snake follows, which Griswald has to bring to a successful conclusion.
Daniela Dresscher tells the short stories with great imagination and an eye for nature, which we really enjoy reading aloud. But her artwork is truly brilliant; she draws so beautifully, entirely in the Waldorf tradition—you would buy the books just for her illustrations alone!
3+ softly shining stars for Gijsbert and the Klaterbeek, from our young listeners and their readers!
