If only I had an octopus, by Gabby Dawnay, is a cheerful picture book with illustrations by Alex Barrow. In 2017 we read the picture book If I had a dinosaur about a little girl who wants a pet dinosaur.
The book from 2017 got a new part in which the same little girl still wanted a pet. Only after the dino it became a Sleepy Sloth, then followed a Unicorn and now it's an Octopus. For us (the maxi-monsters) the dinosaur book was actually enough. But the mini-monsters - who are great fans of the real octopus - really wanted to read the Octopus book too.
The little girl in the book would really like a pet ...

What we wrote about the dinosaur book in 2017 also applies to the Octopus. The rhyming story is funny and humorous. The brightly coloured prints are very cute and the text again is brilliantly translated by Bette Westera. The mini-monsters think the book is wonderful and that's what matters most to us.
